Resonance 8 is learning material for the eighth module of high school physics (PHY8 Matter, Radiation, and Quantisation). The module introduces the conceptual and theoretical structure of quantum physics and its experimental basis. The focus is on the structure of matter and fundamental interactions, as well as how these affect the properties of matter. The module deals with the technological applications of quantum physics and how quantum physics manifests itself in phenomena ranging from elementary particles to cosmic phenomena. The module also examines various technologies based on radioactive decay, ionizing radiation, and quantisation.
Please note that the sample chapter only includes the Test your knowledge exercises related to the book's theory sections. The other exercises are included in the teacher's exercise kit, which the teacher will make available to students during the course. The book complies with the new Finnish upper secondary school curriculum (LOPS2021).
